Managing Defensiveness in Yourself and Others
OVERVIEW:
Defensiveness
is one of the most deadly obstacles to
giving and getting feedback, communication,
learning, and change. Getting defensive
is ALWAYS a bad defense. Knowing how to
deal with defensiveness is one of those
core life skills-as important on the shop
floor and in the Boardroom as it is at
home. This skill is crucial to supervision,
leadership, coaching, listening, problem
solving, performance evaluations, selling,
negotiating, teamwork, learning, etc.
There isn't a work-related problem or
opportunity that won't benefit from strong
skills in this area. This workshop teaches
people how to become less defensive themselves;
how to deal with defensiveness in others;
and simple techniques & strategies
to pre-empt defensiveness.
